Linen & Eulalie’s Sky Cabinet – Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint

Yay, it’s May and I get to show you more of my favourite colours in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint product range. So many people are going crazy over the Eulalie’s Sky colour – a beautiful aqua blue! It’s one of my personal fav’s. And also this month, Linen – which is one of the white colours in the MMSMP range, with a slight creamy tinge to it.

Here was my starting place:

First thing I had to do was fix this broken top piece that was attached with wood plugs that had snapped. So I re-drilled the holes, and glued new wood joiners in.

The other problem was that this cupboard was missing a bottom drawer. Well, I’m not good at creating drawers … I’ve never actually tried, but my brain tells me that would take too much of my time!So I cut a panel of plywood to fit the space as a shelf and painted it in MMSMP Curio. I intended to paint over it, but wanted the wood underneath to be darker than blonde raw wood to give the colour the same depth as the rest of the piece.

I took the hinges and door knob off. Sometimes I paint over these, but I liked the brass look of these fittings that would really suit the finished look too.
Taping up the glass door, I painted the outside of the whole cupboard in MMSMP Linen.

 

Here is the cupboard after one coat. I used 3 coats of Linen, then 2 coats of Eulalie’s sky on the inside.

The whole cupboard has been finished with MMSMP Furniture Wax which is the clear wax in their range of waxes.

I can imagine this in a bathroom, so I added some fluffy towels to the inside cabinet to peek through the glass door. Pretty.

Lovely chippy distressed finish…

These brass hinges have cute little finial ends!

I love this piece, so might have trouble parting with it just yet …
