Linen & Eulalie’s Sky Cabinet – Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint

Yay, it’s May and I get to show you more of my favourite colours in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint product range. So many people are going crazy over the Eulalie’s Sky colour – a beautiful aqua blue! It’s one of my personal fav’s. And also this month, Linen – which is one of the white colours in the MMSMP range, with a slight creamy tinge to it.

First thing I had to do was fix this broken top piece that was attached with wood plugs that had snapped. So I re-drilled the holes, and glued new wood joiners in.

The other problem was that this cupboard was missing a bottom drawer. Well, I’m not good at creating drawers … I’ve never actually tried, but my brain tells me that would take too much of my time!Linen-Eulalies cupboard 3So I cut a panel of plywood to fit the space as a shelf and painted it in MMSMP Curio. I intended to paint over it, but wanted the wood underneath to be darker than blonde raw wood to give the colour the same depth as the rest of the piece.

I took the hinges and door knob off. Sometimes I paint over these, but I liked the brass look of these fittings that would really suit the finished look too.

Here is the cupboard after one coat. I used 3 coats of Linen, then 2 coats of Eulalie’s sky on the inside.

Here are the AFTER pics: (there is glass reflection in the first one, you can’t really see the inside well)

The whole cupboard has been finished with MMSMP Furniture Wax which is the clear wax in their range of waxes.Linen-Eulalies cbrd finished 1

I can imagine this in a bathroom, so I added some fluffy towels to the inside cabinet to peek through the glass door. Pretty.

    Hi Sharon

I am a novice to milk paint and the whole process but really excited to ‘give it a go’ as I love the look! Just wondering if you have a colour guide for the paints on your site as the colours sound great, but don’t really give away too much… also I am planning on doing up a 4 door kitchen hutch and wondered if hemp oil would be more resilient than waxing as well as easier to apply. Thoughts! Thank you 🙂
