Paint Splattered Jeans and Shopping

I’m not the shop-a-holic kind of gal. I mean, I really dislike having to take a load of clothes to the dressing room and juggle the big change session, messing up the frizzy hair that I had only JUST tamed down before leaving for the store, and sorting through the pile only to forget where I laid that ONE item that actually DID fit!

Trying to keep the “cool mum” status in tact!

Nevertheless, I do like to try my best to look decent when I go out, especially having teens who can be the toughest critics, and who knows we all need to prevent the eye-rolling and embarrassment if we want to stay in the “cool mum” category. We try, ladies, we try!

So on a recent shopping trip which wasn’t for me anyway, it was to purchase gifts for my hubby for Father’s Day with my girls, we happened to be looking in the clothing shops. I noticed several styles of jeans featuring one of my favourite products – PAINT!

I’m talking paint splatters – no way – that’s like me in my work clothes – seriously?!

Oh yeah, baby – you KNOW what I was thinking already don’t you? Ha ha!

Paint Splattered Jeans are a Thing?!

Sure enough, you don’t have to look too far on the WWW’s to find that paint splattered distressed jeans are a THING you guys!

So I knew I needed to dig out my favourite comfy work jeans – and I’ll have you know that I’m a VERY neat painter – so therefore, my jeans did NOT support the current trend and were in need of a little help …

How to DIY Paint Splattered Jeans:

This DIY project is so easy you’ll be able to paint AND wear your jeans on the same day – no kidding, I did!

Step 1

• Lay your jeans out flat.

Step 2

• Choose a paint colour. I used Fusion Mineral Paint in the colour Lamp White. I recommend you use an acrylic paint.
• Using a cotton bud, dip it into your paint and create paint spots in random places on your jeans.
• As well as the dots, I dipped my cotton bud into the paint and flicked the dripping paint onto the jeans in more random places.

Step 3:

• In some places, I smeared the paint.

Step 4:

• Flip your jeans over to the back side and continue painting in random places until you are happy with the outcome.
